Our operations are built on a foundation of responsible stewardship — protecting people, communities and the environment at every terminal, every day.
Zero lost-time injuries and zero unplanned environmental releases across all terminal operations.
All HSE performance data independently audited quarterly. ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certified across all sites.
Annual HSE improvement plans reviewed at Board level with measurable targets and public progress reporting.
At Vopak Holding Terminals B.V., safety is not a department — it is an operating philosophy embedded at every level of our organisation. From tank allocation to discharge, every process is governed by our HSE Management System, aligned with international standards and reviewed continuously through independent auditing.
We operate in full compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISPS and OVIQ requirements. Our dedicated HSE teams conduct quarterly audits, real-time environmental monitoring, and maintain a target of zero lost-time injuries and zero unplanned environmental releases at every terminal.
Environmental responsibility is integrated into how we price, plan and execute every storage contract — not treated as an afterthought. Counterparties choose Vopak Holding Terminals because our compliance record is demonstrable, documented and independently verified.
Our HSE management system is structured around six core pillars that define how we operate, monitor, respond and improve.
Zero harm is our baseline. Every employee, contractor and visitor operates under our Permit to Work system with mandatory safety inductions and real-time hazard reporting at all terminals.
ISO 14001 certified environmental management at all terminals. Continuous monitoring of air quality, water discharge and soil integrity with zero-tolerance for unplanned releases.
Full alignment with ISPS, OVIQ, MARPOL and local environmental legislation across Rotterdam, Houston, Fujairah and Jurong jurisdictions. Compliance embedded by design, not afterthought.
Every terminal operates under internationally recognised certification frameworks, verified by independent third-party auditors.
Our HSE governance framework defines standards, responsibilities and performance targets across all terminal operations globally. Each policy is reviewed annually and approved at Board level.
All HSE policies are reviewed annually, with emergency response plans tested semi-annually through live drills at each terminal site.
Our environmental policy commits to continuous reduction of our operational footprint through measurable targets, independent verification, and integration of environmental risk into all business decisions. ISO 14001 certification is maintained across all four terminal locations and subjected to surveillance audits annually.
Zero harm to all persons on or near our terminals is non-negotiable. Our health and safety policy mandates Permit to Work controls, mandatory PPE, hazard identification reporting, and monthly safety review meetings at every site. All incidents, near-misses and hazard observations are recorded and investigated within 24 hours.
All terminals maintain tested Emergency Response Plans reviewed annually. Plans include oil spill response, fire suppression, evacuation procedures and direct coordination protocols with local port authorities, coastguard and emergency services. Live drills are conducted semi-annually at each location.
All third-party contractors are pre-qualified against our HSE standards before site access is granted. Contractors are subject to the same Permit to Work controls, induction requirements and safety performance monitoring as direct employees. Contractor HSE performance is reviewed quarterly.
Terminal waste streams — including slop water, drained hydrocarbons and chemical residues — are managed through licensed contractors in full compliance with MARPOL, local environmental regulations and our Zero Discharge to Sea commitment. Full waste manifests are maintained and available for counterparty review.
